And then my other boob tried out mastitis, too, and some other news

If you’re not a nursing mother, there’s a good chance you don’t know about mastitis. It’s a bacterial infection of the milk ducts and it’s painful, causes flu-like symptoms and typically arrives when a woman hasn’t been nursing/pumping as thoroughly or often as she should. That woman is me.

A week ago exactly, I got it on the left side. I took medication and it cleared up quickly. But now the exact same scenario is playing out on the right side. Ouch, and clearly I need to learn a lesson from this. Like don’t skip nursing/pumping as much as I have been.

In other news that I will expand on as soon as I recover, I’ve decided not to return to work. As in I’m going to stay home with my kids. As in I’m equal parts excited and terrified. I never envisioned myself making this choice, even after Addy was born. But for a variety of reasons, it’s what feels right. And daycare for 2 kids is crazy expensive. So begins a new chapter for my family…

Congrats on your decision to stay home with the kids! I made that exciting (& terrifying) move to SAHM one year ago last week… & simply put, it was the best decision I’ve ever made. it is clear you adore your babies, so I know you’ll be hugely successful in your new role!
