The Boy’s Room

Since I’ve made progress decorating Addy’s room, it’s time to shift my focus to creating a new nursery for a new baby – our son, who we refer to as The Boy because we have yet to decide on a name. We do not have a single option that we agree on. But that’s a stress-filled post for another day.

When discussing a theme for The Boy’s room, we immediately ruled out trains, books, cars and sports, because those are all things Addy has expressed interest in, which means she could potentially decide she loves the nursery more than her own new space.

So we settled on a maps/traveling theme. I haven’t purchased anything yet, but here’s some items I’ve got my eye on.

These more whimsical maps.

.

An Earth-inspired paper lantern to hang in a corner.

.

One of these, if we can ever settle on a name for him.

.

A throw pillow for the rocking chair.

These items don’t really go together, but right now they’re serving as inspiration for me. I’m thinking the map and the initial are a must. I’ve got a lot more searching to do, but at least it’s a start, right?

I really like the map/travel theme! A model airplane or two might look cool hanging from the ceiling. I also saw a cool idea where someone used an old suitcase at the foot of the bed for storage… kind of like how you would use a cedar chest. The suitcase (which I’m sure you could find really cheap at a thrift store) was propped up on an old little end table.
