A Constructed Life

Can you find the Adeline?

I’ve mentioned that Addy has developed an extreme fondness for sleeping with every stuffed animal she can find. I’m not a big fan of it, cause once you factor in the 4 blankets that she also insists on sleeping with it, it all adds up to a lot of crap in one tiny bed.

Take a look at these photos, which I snapped a few nights ago while Addy was soundly sleeping. Can you even tell that there’s a child in that bed?

.

My point exactly. She’s in there. Look for the purple – those are her legs. Please understand that Adeline does not initially go to bed in this state. Instead, she waits for us to leave the room. As soon as we’re downstairs, we hear the scamper of little feet running back and forth from her basket of stuffed animals to her bed as she retrieves every single animal she can find. Then she buries herself underneath them all and dozes off.

Before I climb into bed, I sneak into her room and clear them off of her just so I can have the peace of mind that she won’t be suffocated by a stuffed moose. Like so many other things, I’m hoping this, too, is a phase.
