A Constructed Life

In hopes he’ll explore all the world has to offer

Months ago, I started sharing ideas for Crosby’s nursery and then I never spoke of it again. I am happy to announce that his room is finally finished…almost. ish.

We stuck with a travel theme, and while I initially planned on filling the space with maps, we opted for a different route instead. Vintage travel posters. I love them.

Here are the posters we purchased for his room, all from ebay.

The inspiration came from Pinterest, the most glorious site in all of the world wide web.

While I love the idea, I’m still not quite sure we’re executing it as well as we could. I feel like the room, which is tiny, is pretty frame heavy due to all the framed posters on the wall. Your thoughts?

This is taken from the doorway into the room. There are three posters over the crib and one to the right and left of it. I know, the Fischer Price mobile hanging on the crib doesn’t add to the look, but it distracts Crosby in the morning when I’m getting Addy up, so it’s staying.

This is taken looking into a corner of the room that’s on the same wall as the doorway. The things on the wall that kind of look like primary-colored check marks are actually shelves (still empty) we picked up at Ikea. I thought they kind of looked like airplanes. Right above them? A clock with a map on it, another Ikea purchase. I swear 50 percent of our decor is from that place. The changing table is an antique dry sink with a changing pad in it. It’s the same one we used for Adeline.

The rocking chair in the corner was a wedding gift and it’s covered in a quilt a family friend made for Crosby. In my mind, gifts as meaningful as these must be displayed and used.

So, that’s The Boy’s room. The biggest challenge is the small size of the room and the fact that my husband was trying to use all the picture hooks that were already hanging on the wall from the artwork we had for Addy. He claims it makes decorating more efficient. I still have a few more little things I’d like to add to the space, like some tiny vintage suitcases, etc…, but who knows when I’ll get around to that. If you have any suggestions on how to make the space/theme work better, I’d love to hear them!

I love it Liz! I really like that you’ve picked a theme and decor that can grow with him. I did the same when I picked out things for Henry’s room.
