A Constructed Life

The List

Few things provide more satisfaction than the act of placing a big, fat, inky check mark next to an item on your To Do list. Joey and I have been working off a three-page list for several weeks now. A list that long seems daunting at first, but then we were all like “Watch out, List! We got a pen and we’re about to go crazy on yo’ ass!” What I am trying to say, ladies and gentlemen, is that Joey and I have been getting things done. Our list has been decimated.

Accomplishing so much at such a rapid pace requires celebration in the form of an embedded video from the classic film “The Muppet Movie,” circa 1979. Click play!

I love this song, and the fact that two very fancy, uber-embellished sock puppets are singing it makes me like it even more. Go ahead, take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness that is Fozzie Bear and Kermit the Frog. Don’t deny your inner child the right to sing along.

Although Fozzie and Kermit sing of making progress on a cross-country road trip, this diddy’s message captures the bliss and pride that Joey and I feel as we “move right along” our extensive list of house-related tasks.

Here’s what we’ve been working with.

Aren’t those big fat check marks lovely? Here’s a closer look so you can peruse some of the super-fun tasks we’ve been laboring over.

Joey, who somehow stole the role of Chief List-Maker from me, condensed our three-page list into this more manageable one-page version of things we still have to get done.

From three pages to one page. Not bad.

“Movin’ right along.
Footloose and fancy-free.
Getting there is half the fun; come share it with me.
Moving right along (doog-a-doon doog-a-doon).
We’ll learn to share the load.
We don’t need a map to keep this show on the road.”

God, Fozzie and Kermit are so wise. Who knew their message was so far-reaching and all-encompassing?
