A Constructed Life

Because toddlers totally appreciate antiques

We took one more step closer to converting our guest bedroom into Adeline’s new room.

Here’s what it looked last weekend, as the guest bedroom:

Here’s what it looks like now.

Not screaming little girl’s room just yet, huh?

We replaced the guest bedroom furniture with a bedroom set my parents had in their attic. It’s a 3/4 size bed, which means it’s between a twin and a full, and a small dresser from the late 1800s. Both my sister and I used that furniture at some point in our lives. While it’s not necessarily a natural choice for a 2-year-old, I’m hoping that once we get fun bedding and guard rails for the bed and move the colorful paintings and rug from Adeline’s current room into this one, it will look a little less like…a room from the 1800s.

At this point, I’m starting to question if we’ll get Addy to migrate from her little toddler bed to this big bed. It will be a huge change for her. If she’s not ready, she’s not ready, and to be completely honest, part of me feels horribly guilty that we’re pushing her towards these milestones, rather than letting her lead the charge. So, whatever happens with moving her (or not moving her) from the crib and potty training (or staying in diapers), I’m not stressing about it. We’ll figure it all out either way.
