A Constructed Life

The last tri

And just like that I’m down to the last 3 months of growing this baby. How time flies when you’re knocked up! Like a light switch, my body flicked from “Being pregnant is easy” to “Ohmygodthissucks!” within 48 hours of crossing the third trimester threshold.

It’s not so much that I’ve grown a ton in the last couple of weeks, it’s more that my belly has shifted.

Here I am 3 weeks ago, at 25 weeks.

And here I am now, at 28 weeks.

You have to look closely, but my belly has already transitioned from perky appendage to drooping sack of tiny human.

I’m not taking this as a sign that the baby has already dropped and therefore labor is near, because sadly, it is still 12 weeks away. I’m interpreting this as my stomach muscles officially giving up and opting to relax rather than struggle to hold things up. What a cop out.

I can’t begin to tell you how much that small shift in position impacts my level of comfort. My back hurts, my belly aches, I’m up peeing 3 times a night and my level of bitchiness has dramatically increased. And it’s mostly because I realize that I have 3 more months of this and I’m most likely going to get even more uncomfortable.

I’m seriously considering buying one of these in hopes that it will help.

Not the black unitard, though I’m sure it’s a must in maternity ware. I’m talking about the belly bra…as in a bra for my belly. Because sometimes more than just your boobs need support. And this is one of those times.

I didn’t feel this way with Adeline’s pregnancy until the last few weeks. But let’s put this into perspective.

Here’s what I looked like 1 week before giving birth.

And what I look like 3 months before giving birth.

Sure, I have a few inches to go, but I think this captures why I already feel like I’m 8 months pregnant. It’s because I look it.

I know it doesn’t make you more comfortable, but you sure do look adorable when you’re pregnant! Can’t wait for the little guy to get here!
