A Constructed Life

To be Adeline

In her world, a noggin adorned with four hats makes perfect sense and is much preferable to a noggin adorned with one. Not only is it uniquely fashionable, it’s also the ultimate in scalp sun protection.
.

.

In her world, lawn chairs are not only a playhouse,

.

they’re also the ideal setting for an afternoon snooze.

.

And contrary to what any adult will tell her, their cup holders are for filling with small faces, not beverages.

.

.

In her world, the perfect time to bathe brand new plush toys is in the split second that Mommy looks away.

In her world, everything is simple. Emotions are pure and expressed without shame, the day is meant for exploring every blade of grass, ant and flower that presents itself and getting dirty, over and over and over again.

As I watch my daughter, I am so grateful for the world she inhabits right now. I want her to stay in it, free of complications, for as long as possible. And I want to forever be able to visit her there.

I haven’t read your blog for awhile I just started a new job and things have been hectic…Lane finally started to wear a hat and he loves his new sunglasses. The new favorite around our house is a hammock swing-perfect for naptime.
