A Constructed Life

Where eggs come with fruit and lambs taste like cake

This Easter was the first in years that my entire family got together. Typically, Easter falls near Spring Break, which means my husband, the educator, and me usually go on vacation during the holiday. Not this year (vacation is postponed till mid May, when I bare my preggo belly to all of Riviera Maya, Mexico).

This year, we gathered at my parents’ farm for an egg hunt and dinner with my sister, grandma and in-laws. And we had a blast.

See those adorable red boots? They’re a gift from my parents, and Adeline is OBSESSED with them. It’s near impossible to get them off her feet.
.
Each found egg was like the greatest discovery she had ever made.
.
And because these were Adeline’s eggs, half were filled with fresh fruit, which she may actually prefer to chocolate and jelly beans.

This photos captures a large majority of the people I love. My grandma’s up there next to my sister. She’s experiencing holidays in a whole new way since my grandfather died, and she’s doing so great. I’m so proud and impressed.
.
The main course was grilled lamb.
.
Followed by a lamb cake...
.

…that was made in a mold my grandma, now 92, was given when she was born, which she in turn gave to Adeline at their first meeting.

.

Adeline decided the nose of the lamb cake was too delicious to resist.

.
So we cut the lamb’s face off and served it to her, but she wasn’t nearly as interested in it. Apparently lamb face is much better to eat when still attached to the lamb head.

.

See what I mean? I didn’t know Easter with my family could be so much fun. Kids really do bring a new level of delight into everything. Hope you all had a wonderful Easter or Passover with your families!
