A Constructed Life

Head-eating hair

Addy came into the world with a head full of black hair. While it’s lightened in color, as you can see, it’s now taking over her face. She’s had several haircuts in her one year of life, but a few months ago, Joey and I decided to stop the cutting and let her hair be free to do its thing. And apparently, its “thing” is to swallow her head whole. But this also means that I can give her pigtails (for about 5 minutes and then she rips them out) or put cute barrettes into hair.

So, here’s where I need your help. Should we cut it or just keep letting it grow, bangs included, and continue the hair-do fun?

Here’s an overview of the Shaggy Head Syndrom that’s happening in our house.

And here’s the cuteness of trying to “style” her hair as she runs by me.

Clearly, Addy loves this look. Actually, she had just finished a knock-down, drag-out battle with those balloons. And the balloons won. But at least she looked super cute when she conceded the battle.

Who doesn’t love a little girl with pigtails?!!

So, chop it or leave it?

She’s too cute for words either way, but if the Internet panel is going to give you any insight… we probably need a picture of her with her bangs pulled back (she’s going to love that…) I do think that bangs would frame her face nicely, but it is more upkeep.

I say she is just cute either way but the more you cut the faster it will grow (that’s what is happening to our little guy) I just really like the shaggy look on toddlers, much cuter than cutting it short.

Leave it! One of the best things we did was just let Anna’s grow so she didn’t have that weird half head bang thing. She will get used to the funky little pig tails sticking out eventually.

Perfect post, Liz! We are going through the same thing with Emily right now. It is SO tempting to just snip a little here and there, but I’m trying to let it all grow out. She’s got some curls too, so her hair is flipping in different directions! So stick with me and let Addy’s hair go crazy too!
