A Constructed Life

Baby on board

It was a gray, cloudy and cool June weekend in Wisconsin, so naturally, Cheri and I decided to take our babies on a boat, where we could wedge them into infant life preservers and make them totally miserable.

It was Addy’s first time on a sea vessel, and we hopped aboard just as nap time hit. After about 15 minutes of crying, the hum of the pontoon boat’s engine lulled her to sleep and she slept through most of our tour of Lake Sinissippi, as did Cheri’s son, Riley.

It was also Addy’s first time in a life jacket. She hated it, but I found it so hilarious that I’m tempted to dress her in one even when she’s on dry land.

P.S. Thank you to Riley, for letting Addy borrow your super-tough-guy pink and teal life jacket, complete with pink heart and, ironically, the word “gladiator (with a heart over the “i”) printed over it in a perfectly adorable font.
