It’s Time!
I am being induced today. After nine months of planning, preparing, fretting, worrying and getting excited, it’s time to welcome our baby girl into the world. In these last few hours before I go to the hospital, I continue to plan, prepare, fret, worry and get excited.
So what’s with the induction? It simply comes down to space and the fact that the baby is outgrowing my womb faster than my body can get her out. In other words, I’m barely dilated, but this kid needs to get out, so my doctor is going to give my body a little push and hopefully it will take over from there.
My initial reaction to induction was sadness, as I realized Joey and I would miss our exciting “it’s time!” race to the hospital and disappointment that my body wasn’t cooperating and my labor was taking a different path than expected.
Now, I’m feeling okay with it. The advanced notice allowed me to finish my work yesterday, say goodbye to co-workers and spend today tidying up and putting the finishing touches on our hospital bags. More than anything, I understand that this is the best choice for Joey and me and our baby, although I realize more than a few people out there might disagree.
Instead of listing off the numerous ways my life will be changing and reflecting on each one of them, I am doing my best to welcome every one of the changes coming our way. Joey and I have loved our life as a twosome and I will miss it, but I am certain this baby will only make the love we share grow and enhance the great life we have. It will be a tremendous adjustment, but I know we can do it.
So, here’s to finding out what it’s like to be on the other side of this whole pregnancy thing, to learning what it means to be a mother and to watching the man I love become a father.
Goodbye belly…
…hello baby!
I don’t know what life is going to be like after this, but this blog will continue. If home remodeling has proven to be an antic-filled adventure, I can’t even imagine the stories and experiences parenthood will bring! I’m going to be M.I.A. for a few days, but promise to post a picture and let you know how things played out as soon as I can.
Thank you for all your support through all of this and I can’t wait for you to meet our baby girl!

Liz and Joey,
Good luck; can't wait to see the new family member.
Good luck with everything! Both my girls were induced and my labors went very smoothly and resulted in two very healthy little babies. Just try to relax and take it all in!
