A Constructed Life

A Surprise Project

With the chaos of all the baby growing and kitchen remodeling we’ve been doing, I completely forgot to tell you about our new porch.

Yes, that’s right, we have a new porch off the master bedroom. We went from this little “porch,” which allowed you to stand in one spot without moving (or store a garbage bag of remodeling trash)…

…to this full-fledged PORCH.

Now, both Joey and I can sit outside on our porch and watch our neighbors. Or, we can sit outside, thinking we’re the ones doing the watching, when really, all our neighbors are watching us…because we are fascinating people and who would not want to witness the excitement of us sitting outdoors in chairs?

You should know that we did not build this porch ourselves. We hired a carpenter who works like he talks…a million miles per minute. He built this porch in a day and a half. It would have taken us a year and a half.

We debated building the porch ourselves, but having suffered through a rather sad attempt at building new porch steps with a handrail (which is still not finished)…

Yes, that’s me trapped under the steps.

…we decided to leave it to an expert.

I did, however, want to mention these helpful links I found as I researched porches and decking during the brief period where I pretended we would actually create this structure ourselves.

I found them on The Better Homes and Garden Web site. Here they are in case they’re helpful to you. May they aid and assist you in all your decking and new-porch dreams.

LOVE the porch! you need to put a rocker out there so that you and Baby Girl can soak up all the sun you can before summer leaves us!

Don't worry there is nothing to exciting in our house to watch either. It's in our yard at 3am that the really fun starts. 🙂 To bad we missed that!!
And…what's with the people that live next to you and the half painted garage? And why don't they ever park in that new garage?

It looks great! We put in a patio because we were too lazy to maintain a porch or deck:-) It's almost level too:-) Hee, hee, hee.
