A Constructed Life

What a Difference a Day Makes

Remember Katie’s garage (or non-garage I should say) that was torn down last week?

Well, within 24 hours, a new structure was erected in its place.

Before I go any further, you need to click play, or this post will lack pizazz and then what would be the point of coming to this blog?

It’s vintage Cher…with weird, over exaggerated tongue movements and all. You can bet that as I write the rest of this post, I’ll be flicking and flapping my tongue all over the place in her honor. I’m sure my cheeks will be chapped in no time. I’m also going to look into having that nice, hazy purple circle around my face at all times. It’s very Harlequin and will likely distract from my bionic preggo belly.

Cher’s dress reminds me of this little get-up that Scarlet O’Hara wore in Gone With The Wind.

See?

I think that was supposed to be her housecoat or something. At least that’s totally what I wear around the house to relax in.

Anyways…back to the garage. Here’s what it looks like 48 hours after the old one was torn down.

Pretty impressive, huh? You can see the roofers up there doing their thing. Katie and her husband, Wayne, told us that all it needs now are windows, a garage door, electricity and siding.

Speaking of garages, Joey and I haven’t parked in ours in over a year cause it’s full of our remodeling crap. We’re planning on moving it all into Katie and Wayne’s new garage in the middle of night when they’re sleeping. I mean, what were they going to do with that thing? Put cars in it?

Just kidding, Katie!

I don’t know if I even know what people do with a garage, I have not been able to use mine in so long. I’m thinking about making it a party room, because I don’t want to get the floor dirty. Or lose the new wood smell that I love, almost as much as fresh cut grass!:) feel free to stop over anytime but make sure you bring a chair with you because it’s our new sitting room for right now.

Something as simple as a garage shows the difference between two sisters…me being the older and wiser.
For instance, I NEVER park my vehicle (2007 Honda CRV—Red) outside, I am spoiled to have a large enough garage to store vehicles and a whole lot of other junk. Even though I’m an owner of an older house (1948), I’m lucky enough to have a much newer garage (1997). But I do understand the many problems that go along with owning an older house. I joke that I am the Property Manager of 621 N. Oakwood Avenue … because I’m constantly addressing a building issue or managing some sort of improvement project.

Liz—Thank you for documenting this momentous event in the life of 223 Union Street. I have enjoyed reading your Blog and often laugh out loud at your humorous writing style.

Hmmm. All I see is the back of a clothed beast on the roof of that picture. Are you sure they are human? Things just aren’t adding up. Two days from tear down to a new garage. These can’t be your typical contractors. Have you had any reports of unexplained bright lights in the sky? I’m smelling something… paranormal…

Katie and Bonnie – that garage is looking so great, just one of the many projects transforming that place into a beautiful home!

Shane and Casey – your comment had me laughing out loud! The rate those guys have been working at does seem inhuman for contractors.

Susie – isn’t it?!! We can’t stop staring at it!
