My Basement Wet Itself
I think my basement had an “accident,” because it’s rather soggy down there these days. For about a week every spring, our basement becomes incontinent, allowing a small trickle of water to penetrate its hearty fieldstone walls. As soon as the ground starts thawing and rain starts pouring, we know the basement is going to wet it’s pants. After all, you know what they say about the sound of water and having to go…
In comparison to what other people are dealing with, our basement gets a minimal amount of water. It’s really not that bad at all – our Shop Vac takes care of things in about 5 minutes.
Here’s a few photos of the puddles the Shop Vac sucks up every day:
It’s hard to see the water there, but you’ll notice the reflection of the crap around the puddle in the floor. You’ll also notice that the paint we rolled on to the basement floor a few years ago does not like to be wet, which is why it’s peeling off.
Here, you can see how the water has soaked through the rug in front of our dryer and a box holding the toilet for the guest bedroom bath (we still have to remodel that room).

Glad you found where the problem was coming from! That's one of the first things we suggest to our customers. You're lucky that your problem was pretty small and that you keep a wet vac handy so you don't have to worry about mold. Once you have the issue fixed, you could try some water proof paint on the floor in case there's ever another water problem in the future.
Good luck!
