A Constructed Life

Pssst….

Joey and I have discovered a life-changing secret. And I know just what to do with a good secret – share it on the internet! Anyone who has tried drywalling and mudding realizes the challenges that come with it – challenges that leave subtle flaws on your ceiling and walls that you then have to camoflage, much the way you hide pimples with concealer. We have spent hours applying thick texture to the walls and ceilings of three rooms in our house to hide their flaws. Here’s pictures:

Those are the walls of our living room and dining room. Instead of drywalling them we just repaired the cracks in the plaster, but had to do something to improve their apperance. Overall, we really like how the texture looks, but it takes a long time and we really don’t want all the rooms in our house to be covered in it. So…when it was time to figure out how to hide the flaws in our guest bedroom, we were determined not to coat it with the same goop you see in the living and dining rooms. Our prayers were answered when we found this magical product…

It’s a little thicker than paint, so you can just roll it on to the walls and ceiling with a 1/2″ knapp roller. It has sand mixed in to it which hides the majority of minor flaws. Where it took us 5 hours each to apply the texture to the living room and dining room, we had this stuff applied in about 45 minutes. And because this texture is also a primer, all we have left to do is paint…and we’re one step closer to having another room finished!

By the way, the paint color we chose for the room (the guest bedroom) is called Koala Bear. Can’t wait to show it to you!

P.S. I just had my wisdom teeth removed yesterday, which means I’m on pain killers right now, which means I had to really focus hard on writing coherant sentences. I’m sorry if my efforts failed in a few spots.

Looks Great! I’m sure you wish you’d found out about it earlier, but better late than never. And now you can look forward to finishing quicker.

    Hope you’re feeling well!!
