A Constructed Life

And then I decided to let 300 people tour my home

So, I think I may have made a bad choice. I agreed to be part of my town’s Christmas historic home tour, which occurs in about 4 weeks. Let me back track and explain how this occurred.

Another lifetime ago, I used to work at the county historical society and helped organize our town’s first historic home tour. The committee knew Joey and I had just purchased an old fixer-upper, and they joked that one day our house would be on the tour. But here’s the thing – they weren’t joking. They showed up on my doorstep a few months ago asking if we were done remodeling and wouldn’t it be so fun to show off all of our efforts? We mulled, hemmed, hawed and discussed to death the pros (it will force to get all those last little projects done) and cons (we’ll actually have to do all those last little projects). And went for it.

We have a very long to-do list that includes basics, like hang some family pictures already!, to the tedious, like patch that hole that’s been in the living room wall for over 3 years. And on top of that, I have to deck the halls. Like, really, really, really deck the halls. So I’ve been Pinteresting my brains out, trying to find decorating ideas and holiday inspiration. Here’s a few:

I’m excited to finally get my house polished up and go all out for the holidays, but I’m also stressing about getting it all done. I promise to share progress reports and try not to write Why did I agree to do this? too many times.
