A Constructed Life

She said she wanted to draw beautiful pictures…

…and I assumed, in the ass out of u kind of way, that she meant on the easel in her bedroom or perhaps on a piece of paper at her play table. Rather, what she meant was I shall find the one and only non-washable crayon in my vast crayon collection and scribble with it up and down the hallway, in the closet, the bathroom and around the windows and it shall be my greatest work of art yet, causing jaws to drop and tears to pour forth and the manic usage of Mr Clean Magic Eraser and the eradication of all crayons.

For the record, I was not home when this occurred. And also for the record, it would have happened even if I had been. We allow Adeline to play in her room, which holds a dry erase easel and loads of washable crayons (or so I thought), by herself because it’s never been an issue. There will be a lot more monitoring going on now. And an eagle eye on the washability of every art tool that enters our home.

Also, those stick people you see in the first picture? She didn’t say so, but I’m telling myself that the one with the long skinny legs is her rendition of me.

Children love to their on their walls. Apart from children, I have even seen old people drawing on their room walls. It gives a different and a special look and shows how much you love your home. I find drawings on the home walls very nice and attractive.

Wow! I didn’t even know they made such a thing as washable crayons! I have a lot to learn. I learned something else this past weekend. Dogs plus homemade play dough do not mix. The large amount of salt equals an expensive overnight stay in the vet hospital. Live and learn 🙂

Poor Nahla and poor you! Having a dog really is like having another child. Glad to hear she’s okay, even if it means an end to her career as the first dog play dough sculpture.

Chris & Brian use to run up and down the hall in our house in Mequon with crayons in their hads doing all kinds of art work. We found the wonders of toothpaste saved the paint and when low enough our dachhund, Mollie loved to lick it off the walls for me.

Children are very curious at their age. They like to explore and do things that are beyond their knowledge. Drawing like this enhances their artistic skills.
