A Constructed Life

Le Floors

I am so sorry to have disappeared for as long as I did! But I’m back, with news about our floors. They’re finished and we’re really happy with how they turned out. Take a peek:

Before:

.

We wrapped up our kitchen cupboards in plastic to prevent sawdust from the floor from getting into them and all over our dishes.

.
After tearing down portions of a wall to open up the kitchen, we had to have our wood floors patched with reclaimed wood from other old houses. The patches have been an eye sore for about 2 years.

.
The floor guys arrived Saturday morning. By the time we stopped in that afternoon, they had already sanded the entire first floor. Here’s the floor sanded, and one of the guys vacuuming the dust off the floors.

.

And here are the photos I took Tuesday, when we came in to air out the house and wipe up all the dust. We love our new floors!

.

.
Even the patched portions look a million times better.

So, all in all – having to pack up the entire first floor and move out for 5 days – was totally worth it.
