A Constructed Life

More Saturday, Please!

One of my favorite ways to spend the morning is with a leisurely cup of coffee and good friends. I love cozying into a relaxed, morning-long conversation with my best pals as we all wake up to the day together. It’s one of those things that just makes me so happy.

I met one of my oldest and closest friends, Rebecca, for coffee and muffins on Saturday morning. The weather in Wisconsin was amazing all weekend, so we enjoyed our breakfast and two hours of girl chat outdoors near the Milwaukee River, which is known for its lovely murky brown color.

Here we are in December of ’09 with a 4-month-old Addy. I have another version of this same photo from 1997 (except there’s no baby). I’m sharing the better version.

Since I have known her (Spanish class, senior year of high school), Rebecca has been one of my life coaches, always listening to me and helping me navigate my way through relationships, finances, cooking, jobs…you name it, she’s heard me talk about it. Although she’s far too humble to admit it, Becca has an amazing head on her shoulders and a natural ability to step in and help others. She’s a mother by nature and the biggest go-getter I know. Her accomplishments are mind-boggling, but something tells me this girl has only just scratched the surface.

So, going back to our roots, gracias por un buena manaña Senora Rebecca!

Did I say that right? It’s supposed to be “Thanks for a great morning.” Since Rebecca also helped me pass Spanish class, she’ll know if it’s correct or not.
