A Constructed Life

Three Wise Men and A Wrestler

Although our tree’s been up for about two weeks now, we just finally got around to hanging ornaments on it last night.

At first, we were just going to hang Addy from it…

…but thought she might get uncomfortable after a while. Or that the tree might break under the weight of her awesome baby chubbiness.

Here’s our lovely Christmas tree after Joey and I hung the ornaments we both deemed acceptable.

Joey made sure this super fantastic ornament from 1995 had a prominent place on the tree…

Yes, that’s my 7th grade photo adhered to a mini backpack ornament with a ginormous pencil sticking out of it. I know – I am smokin’ hot with those huge glasses and that wavy perm.

I, in turn, made sure this festive ornament found its way to a bough that was front and center…
“Why, Liz,” you may be saying. “What does a little man in a leotard have to do with Christmas or the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ?”
Nothing.
But is has everything to do with the fact that Joey used to be a wrestler in high school and wore a leotard much like the one you see above, as well as head protection that looks like padded headgear minus the part that attaches to your braces. Our friends still tease him for it, taunting him with emails reading, “Hey Joey! Have you done any wrastlin’ lately?”
So it’s only fitting that we have a small plastic man in a singlet hanging from our tree. Especially because we have several photos of Joey wearing a red singlet and standing in the exact same pose as that little man. Trust me, I would LOVE to share those photos with you, but I am not prepared to become a single mother.
