A Constructed Life

T-Day

It’s time to trade in the hammer and drill for a knife and fork – two tools I have always been skilled at using.

Tomorrow, Joey and I will be heading over to my parent’s farm to stuff ourselves silly on turkey (my mother-in-law is bringing a perfectly-roasted, 36 lbs free-range bird), stuffing, sweet potatoes, corn pudding, cranberries, my brother-in-law’s feta and garlic mashed potatoes, pumpkin pie (my great-grandma’s recipe) and pecan pie. I can’t wait!  Where are you going and what will you be eating?
I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving.  I’ll be back on Monday to regale with more home remodeling stories, including an update on that door!

    Happy and safe travels!

I’ll be home with the mother and furfiends and tradin’ in the tools I’m semi-skilled with (power) for ones not so much (cookin’).

For the past several years, I’ve been in charge of this meal and I think I’ve got it down pat. Tonight, the mother and I will bake pumpkin pie.

Tomorrow, I will get up and wrangle a HUGE turkey (which is hopefully defrosted; I’ll be soaking him if not), start working on the sweet potatoes. Later, I’ll add stuffing (cheater box version), chop pecans, apples and celery for Waldorf salad, and pop open some cranberry sauce. Voila! Dinner.

Sounds fantastic, Nicole! I couldn’t imagine making the entire meal – just the side dish I’m bringing (corn pudding) has got me mildly stressed out. Enjoy the meal and the leftovers!
