A Constructed Life

We survived the Holiday Home Tour!

You guys! We did it! We got our home (at least the first floor of it) in tip top shape and trimmed to the nines and welcomed almost 200 people in. The Historical Holiday Home Tour was a success, and I am so deeply grateful that it is over! It was an experience to say the least, and at times it was even fun, but mostly it was an insane amount of work. Work that is not easily completed when there are two little ones running around 24/7 and a husband that works crazy hours.

We got a lot of positive feedback on all the work we’ve put into the house over the years, and it was so validating to realize that we really did do a good job when we remodeled. People seemed to like the decorations. There was one spot that was an absolute hit.

I even overheard someone say they were going to put their photo of our annual Christmas tree stumps on Pinterest. My stumps might be on Pinterest!

Well, since you all couldn’t take the tour yourselves, I recorded a little video of what the tour would’ve been like for you. However, it doesn’t include the little spiel I gave about the history of the home (I said it so many times my voice was horse by the end of the day), the before and after photos we had playing on iPads in the kitchen and dining room or the display of all the random stuff we found in the walls of the house when we remodeled. But, you’ll get the gist of how the house looked. Enjoy!

Great job! I was crabby after putting the lights on the tree. I can’t even imagine how much time you must have spent on the house.

Favorite line from the video “Sh*t-knacks”. LOL. I’ve never heard that one before! Such a guy saying.

I have to say that I love your Christmas tree stump idea. Once we start getting real trees (when the kiddos arrive), I will be stealing that idea from you.
    Have a very Merry Christmas!
