A Constructed Life

Let the Dilation Begin

And here he comes. My belly shifted from “somewhat saggy” to “full-on droop,” and my doctor confirmed that the little guy is in position, ready to exit. “He’s locked in place,” as she said. Also, my doc checked things out this afternoon, and I am already almost 3 cm dilated and my cervix is “getting short.” So I guess that means I’m locked and loaded.

While my doctor assured me that women can walk around 3 cm dilated for weeks (or just hours), I have a feeling The Boy will appear sooner rather than later. On one hand, I am so ready for this kid to get here, to have my body back and for the anticipation of his arrival to end. On the other hand, the control freak in me wants to demand he stay put at least until Saturday night so I can get a few more things on my To Do list finished. But it’s going to happen however it’s meant to. I realize, though don’t necessarily appreciate, that this is one of those things I have no say in.

One thing I did cross off my list was getting pregnancy shots of myself in something other than sweats. Here’s some from last week and this week, plus the exciting metamorphosis into Pajama-clad Ginorma Pregnant Lady.

37 weeks. My coworkers threw me an awesome little shower today.

Monday, Oct 17th. Maternity shirt borrowed from my great friend, Rebecca.

Today, half way to being comfortable.

Ah! So much better. The distance from the camera is on purpose. I love pajamas.

Well, if the air waves here go silent for a while, it’s because I’m having a baby. I’ll keep in touch until then.

Hey–your arm muscles look fantastic in that half-pajama shot! Buff momma! Must be the carrying-around-a-two-year-old toddler workout I hear so much about 🙂

Can’t wait to meet the boy. You are looking good and doing a great job of carrying this little one. You are going to get everything done that needs to be done and going to be an amazing mom all over again to this precious life. I am so excited for you and for the rest of the family. Hang in there, you are almost done!!! (and remember when I was pregnant you said how you sort of missed it… soak it all in for these last few moments!) Love you!
